Schoolies is the end of school holiday celebrations for school leavers across Australia, predominantly held on Queensland’s Gold Coast and first staged in the 1980s.
Although coming to prominence as a Queensland and Gold Coast holiday tradition, the concept has caught on right across Australia.
The now more organised practise of school leavers going on (normally) their first holiday without parents has now been replicated in New South Wales and Victoria as well as in North Queensland.
The Gold Coast remains the most popular destination due to its history and tradition of Schoolies Parties and organised activities, with such a wealth of experience in organising schoolies week activities, you are sure to have a memorable holiday.
Schoolies in 2010 will run from 20 Nov 2010 to 12 Dec 2010 with the first 10 days being mostly for Queensland schoolies, followed by those from New South Wales and Victoria in the following weeks.
There are a number of activities planned for 2010, mostly centred around night clubs (with and without alcohol) and beach parties which is understandable seeing as for most schoolies, it’s the first time they can hit the clubs and dance floors of the adult world.

Things such as photo ID and building security passes and party specific entry wrist bands will be available from schoolies.com. They have also arranged extra security at most accommodation houses that cater for schoolies to ensure the safety for party goers and their belongings during what can only be described as the party event of a lifetime. Of course another great reason to book your accommodation through bookschoolies.com is that you can organise your group of friends and make payments throughout the year, this will ensure you aren't caught short of cash at the end of the year when the party starts.
All accommodation houses have specific rules regarding numbers of guests etc so please be sure to check these details when you make your booking.
