From Today Brisbane will have another airline operating from the Queensland Capitol’s airport.

Philippine Airlines will make it’s first flight from Brisbane today after introducing twice-weekly services from Brisbane to Manila as part of their major expansion into Australia.

Brisbane becomes Philippine Airlines’ 25th international destination and their third Australian gateway after Sydney and Melbourne.

From today, flights will operate from Brisbane to Manila each Thursday and Saturday using the Airbus A330-300, configured to carry up to 302 passengers with 42 in business class and 260 in economy class.

Fares from Brisbane to Manila with Philippine Airlines are available from $905 return, including taxes and surcharges, or from $2361 return in business class.

The launch of direct flights from Brisbane to Manila gives Queenslanders access to not only Manila but onward connections to 19 other domestic airports in the Philippine Airlines network, these include the island destinations of Bohol, Boracay, Palawan and Cebu.

Flying time from Brisbane to Manila aboard the Airbus A330-300 is less than eight hours.

Last month Sydney and Melbourne services saw the introduction of a brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for their flights to Manilla which has increased the overall capacity from those airports.

The introduction of new aircraft and services are part a strategic expansion in Australia for Philippine Airlines, the strategy also includes new low fares and new partnerships with Australian holiday companies.

Philippine Airlines was Asia’s first airline and has also announced this week a 12-month countdown to its 70th anniversary in March 2011, the countdown will involve a range of special offers and celebratory fares throughout the coming year.

Philippine Airlines flies five times a week from both Sydney and Melbourne to Manila in addition to its twice weekly flights from Brisbane.
